Our Musher Mitts, plunge mitts that come up to the mid forearm, are the best extreme weather mitts made! When we started mushing over 15 years ago, we tried other mitts, were dissatisfied, of course, and took the best features of each and combined them with our materials.
The inner liner is our wool/polar mitts, with the same wool and polar 300 as our parka. The outer shell is waxed canvas with a buckskin palm and thumb. There is also a sheepskin nose patch on each. Three factors make these better than all the others. The first is the wool/polar liners which handle moisture better than synthetics alone and do not compress after one season like polar fleece alone. Second, waxed canvas breathes a little and holds its shape in the cold to make them easy to plunge into. Third is the thumb, which is designed where a thumb should be, on the side of the palm, rather than at the side of the mitt. This is a more natural position and makes them much more comfortable. These mitts are designed to be worn over liner gloves and are tested every day by our dog sledding customers.
Our customers love them for mushing, ice fishing and snow blowing, too!
Medium fits most women, Large fits most men and XL is for either a lot of room for extreme use or large hands. All handmade here from local buckskin (the same deer that raid our garden) and American Made fabrics. Includes removable liners. Color dark brown with tan buckskin. Liners come standard black but can be loden or burgundy.
Made in the USA in Bayfield, WI.
